Google Wave

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Google Wave latest application for communication and collaboration on the web which combines file sharing, Twitter-like and Facebook-style features all with real time collaboration will be coming later this year.

Watch “Google Wave”

Google Wave combines Twitter, email,Facebook and Flickr in one onscreen….

“Here’s how it works: In Google Wave you create a wave and add people to it. Everyone on your wave can use richly formatted text, photos, gadgets, and even feeds from other sources on the web. They can insert a reply or edit the wave directly. It’s concurrent rich-text editing, where you see on your screen nearly instantly what your fellow collaborators are typing in your wave. That means Google Wave is just as well suited for quick messages as for persistent content — it allows for both collaboration and communication. You can also use “playback” to rewind the wave and see how it evolved.”

To those people who don’t usually turn off their computers when they are done for the day should do so because the unnecessary use of energy increases costs and carbon emissions. We should try to save the world and at the same time, Ehem..save money for whoever who is paying for the electricity bill.

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

This morning, i have to wear the surgical mask outdoor to Ong Tai Kim to have my lunch because of the haze. Saw a kid downstair of my condo covered his nose with his hands because it’s  hazy and smoky! According to the thestar online, reading of Air Pollution Index (API) in Kuala Selangor is highest in the country at 74 as at 11am Saturday due to open burning in Sumatra, Indonesia.

I cannot go outdoor to do my exercise today.

Friday, May 29th, 2009

The landmark Jaya Supermarket building in Section 14 in Petaling Jaya collapsed after demolition operations went awry Thursday afternoon

Where is Jaya supermarket by the way. I don’t think i been there before??

I never went to the scene but yesterday it was a shock for me, Jaya Supermarket in Section 14 collapsed. I thought it was an earthquake. But it collapsed after demolition operations went awry Thursday afternoon.

Actually, part of the four-storey building, a landmark of the city, collapsed at about 4:45pm, trapping nine Indonesian construction workers. Others working at the site managed to escape.

The Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 5:08pm and about 50 firemen immediately rushed to the scene.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Soiman Jahid said the first worker was pulled out of the rubble at 5:45pm and followed by the second about fifteen minutes later.

2  injured victims Suriono, 31, and Salleh, 45 were sent to the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).

6:44pm – Rescue workers recovered the body of a construction worker

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed said Suriono was admitted to the emergency ward while Salleh received outpatient treatment.

Dead victim identified as Maskor, 28

There are still 6 more construction workers trapped under the debris. Search and rescue operation will continue

A resident living nearby earlier said he had heard trapped workers shouting “Tolong, tolong (Help, help)” for a while, but there was only silence now.

1 trapped worker managed to call his boss on his handphone, and rescue workers are trying to trace him.

Tracker dogs to search for the remaining victims

The building has six storeys, including two basement levels. Most of the workers were on the ground and third floors when the incident, whose cause is currently unknown, occurred.

At one stage, the remaining part of the building was teetering dangerously, reporters on the scene said, with bits and pieces still falling off.

However, the Fire and Rescue Department has confirmed that there are no houses nearby and residents were not in danger. Read more….
