Plastics and dumpling

Watching these videos, i’ve noticed Taiwanese use of cotton strings to tied their Zongzi or Chinese dumpling while here in Malaysia, we used “plastic strings”. I wonder will plastic melts into our dumplings when they cooked it for 5 hours? Gross when i think about that.
